I have managed to find these postcards I had collected many years ago, and would be glad to share with all of you; especially those my seniors would find these places familiar to them:
I have managed to find these postcards I had collected many years ago, and would be glad to share with all of you; especially those my seniors would find these places familiar to them:
This is one of the early Singapore Bullock Cart at Rochor Road near the Singapore Ice Works ( now no longer there ) situated at Sungei Road. Singapore Ice Works was acquired by Cold Storage (Singapore) Pte Ltd in 1958. Rochor canal separates the two roads (ca 1910).
View from the junction of Mackenzie Road / Bukit Timah Road / Kampong Java Road (now view from KK Hospital ), in the direction of the town. The present Alfa Centre now stands on the vacant site at the extreme right(ca 1908).
Sophia Road used to have the quality of the "Old World Charm"
in a winding road leading from the business hub of Selegie Road to the brow of Mount Sophia; with its marvellous mixture of terrace houses, shophouses and bungalows in this area, it was one of Singapore's most interesting historically districts (1908).
View of Jalan Besar with two rows of cotton trees on both sides of the road.
Bullock Cart was a common sight in those bygone years (ca 1930).
