Culinary Skill - Cooking Sharing Session

Moulmein Owen RC conducted a Cooking Sharing Session at its Centre on Saturday, 29 June 2013.  This round the menu is Assam Pork, Seafood Tou fu and Coconut Jelly. There were 23 residents participated in this sharing session. These cooking sharing session are conducted monthly at RC Centre.

Visit to Ren Ci Nursing Home

Moulmein Owen Residents Committee, Moulmein Kentville RC & Moulmein Farrer Park RC jointly visited Ren Ci Nursing Home on Saturday, 15 June 2013 at 2.00pm.  They and group of their volunteers conducted games and entertainment programme for the patients in the wards. 

 

 

 

FAREWELL Pek Kio @ Cambridge

 

Pek Kio Community Centre at 97 Cambridge Road will be relocated to "New" Pek Kio Community Centre at 21 Gloucester Road from 2 June 2013. This Farewell Pek Kio @ Cambridge is celebrated on 25 May 2013 to commemorate the closing of this Centre.

 

 

 

A briskwalking event from Pek Kio@ Cambridge to Pek Kio @ Gloucester Road on 2 June 2013 at 7.00am will officiate the commencement of the shifting or relocation to its new location.

Wheatgrass Production Farm

-What you can do there: Buy organically cultivated health crops such as wheat grass, buckwheat sprouts, edible cactus, aloe vera, mushrooms and tropical herbs. Join the mushroom cooking demo and healthy wheatgrass juicing demo. Participate in the products tasting session.

History of Bukit Batok Nature Park Bukit Batok used to be a sleepy rural area with forest, farm lands and factories. Granite quarrying was among the early activities there since the 1950s. In fact Bukit Batok in Malay means "Coughing Hills" as the blasting made the hills appear to be coughing. Public housing in the area started in the 1970s. The former Ford Factory is the venue where the British surrender to the Japanese on 15 Feb 1942. The front portion of this building has been conserved as a historical monument. At the top of Bukit Batok hill is the site of two memorials built by the Japanese for their war dead as well as for the Allied soldiers. Both were demolished by the Japanese. Today, all that remains are two pillars and 120 concrete steps leading up to the transmission tower. The National Heritage Board had erected a plaque highlighting the significance of the site.
