Prince William and his wife Catherine were greeted by cheering well-wishers Tuesday as they started an Asia-Pacific tour in Singapore to mark Queen Elizabeth II's 60-year reign.

The glamorous royal couple went from the airport to the leafy city-state's Botanic Gardens for the first engagement of their nine-day visit, which will also take in Malaysia, the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.

It seem to me that there isn't sufficient shade and shelther to overcome the hot and raining weather, especially during peak hours. I think I need to carry a big umbrella and rain coat along......

New Citizenship Ceremony - 25 August 2012

150 PR attended the New Citizenship Ceremony held at Kallang Community Club on 25 August 2012 at noon time. Guest-of-honour is MS Denise Phua, Grassroots Adviser & Member of Parliament for Moulmein-Kallang GRC.

Noted that 55 new citizens are living in Moulmein Division.

This is one of the early Singapore Bullock Cart at Rochor Road near the Singapore Ice Works ( now no longer there ) situated at Sungei Road. Singapore Ice Works was acquired by Cold Storage (Singapore) Pte Ltd in 1958. Rochor canal separates the two roads (ca 1910).

View from the junction of Mackenzie Road / Bukit Timah Road / Kampong Java Road (now view from KK Hospital ), in the direction of the town. The present Alfa Centre now stands on the vacant site at the extreme right(ca 1908).

Sophia Road used to have the quality of the "Old World Charm" in a winding road leading from the business hub of Selegie Road to the brow of Mount Sophia; with its marvellous mixture of terrace houses, shophouses and bungalows in this area, it was one of Singapore's most interesting historically districts (1908).

View of Jalan Besar with two rows of cotton trees on both sides of the road. Bullock Cart was a common sight in those bygone years (ca 1930).
