Owen Residents Lunar New Year Gathering - Lor YuSheng

120 Owen Residents gathered at void deck of Owen RC Centre to celebrate Lunar New Year with Prosperity YuSheng and with Bentos set dinner. It is held on Friday evening - 3rd February 2012.

There are 20 winners for the BINGO Games held after the dinner.

Opening of Woodsville Interchange (Tunnel) on 28 Jan 2012

The Woodsville Interchange (Tunnel)is located at the intersection of Serangoon Road, Upper Serangoon Road, MacPherson Road and Bendemeer Road. Serangoon Road and Upper Serangoon Road are two major arterial roads linking the city with the Serangoon corridor and the northeast sector.

With the opening of this Woodsville Interchange (Tunnel), on 28 January 2012, motorists will be able to use the new vehicular tunnels and flyover to travel seamlessly from:

• Upper Serangoon Road to Bendemeer Road
• MacPherson Road to Bendemeer Road
• Serangoon Road to Upper Serangoon Road
• and from PIE slip Road to Kallang Way.

Connectivity between the northeast sector and the city will be improved.

The completed upgrading project bring about the following features:

• A 255m long two-lane vehicular tunnel from Serangoon Road to Upper Serangoon Road
• A 245m long two-lane vehicular tunnel from Upper Serangoon Road to Bendemeer Road
• A 160m long one-lane vehicular tunnel from MacPherson Road to Bendemeer Road
• A 400m long one-lane flyover as a direct road link to cater for traffic movement from PIE towards Kallang Way (completed in July 2011)*

* The single-lane vehicular flyover was opened to the public on 31 July 2011. The flyover links Jalan Toa Payoh to Jalan Kolam Ayer leading to Kallang Way and PIE (Changi) directly.

Malaysian Food Street @ Resort World Sentosa

You can now sample authentic Malaysian Hawker dishes at Resort World Sentosa's Malaysian Food Street.

There are many famous Malaysian Street Hawker Stalls such as KL Jalan ALor Hokkien Mee, Penang Ah Long Lor Bak and famous Penang Cendol etc - and these 3 mentioned stalls I have just patronised today (25.01.2012).

The Hokkien Mee uses black sauce to infuse the noodles with fragrant aroma and paired with ingredients - sotong, meat and prawn. This plate of mee sells at $6.00.

As for the Penang Lor Bak, the crisp goodness of deep fried Lor Bak - tender meat marinated with authentic five-spices powder from Penang and rolled in soya bean sheets, it tastes better with its special lime-chilli. This plate of Lor Bak sells at $8.00.

The famous Penang Cendol is a great disappointing. It comes with green cendol jelly, red bean on shaved ice drizzled with coconut milk and dark brown sugar. But the fragrant smell and taste of these coconut milk/brown sugar is not there. Cendol is $2.50 per bowl.

Owen Residents went to Tanjung Pinang for festive shopping on 13 January 2012. This trip includes 2 lunches and 1 dinner at Local Seafood Restaurant, Breakfast is at Comfort Hotel where the group stayed overnight.

The places visited include City Sightseeing, Goddess of Mercy (Guan Yin Temple), 500 Lohan Temple, and an Famous Traditional Chinese temple, Cuttlefish Packaging Factory, Homemake Cookies shops, and lastly at Shopping Mall (Ramayana),where it can satisfy some of your shopping ambitions.

And to White Market where you will be enjoying the hustle and the bustle of the market. There, you can shop for a variety of dried seafood and local product, not forgetting souvenir, handicraft or batik from many parts of Indonesia.
